The Children’s Gallery of the Exhibition Centre of the Regional Museum of Beja shows the exhibition “Iconography of Love”.
The documentary exhibition consists of thirty images evocative of the 350 years of the “Letters of Love” by Mariana Alcoforado, published in Paris in 1669. The iconographic reproductions alluding to the nun of Beja show works by several foreign artists such as Matisse, Max Ernst and Modigliani, and by the Portuguese António Pimentel, José Rodrigues, Lima de Freitas, Mário Botas and Pomar, who have already died, as well as João Abel Manta and Cruzeiro Seixas.
Some of these plastic works were part of the “Amor Impresso” (Printed Love) exhibition that the MNI held from February to May to mark the anniversary of the Alcoforado letters.
The exhibition “Iconography of Love” will be open until December 15 at the Children’s Gallery of the Exhibition Center of the Regional Museum of Beja.
