TWO STONES -Turak Theatre
A MICHEL LAUBU SOLO, FRANCE
A mist from which small characters emerge without a direct connection to the daily life where they were made… everything fits in the palm of a hand or even in a shoebox. It is a matter of poetic DIY, an unlikely mix of used objects taken from forgotten drawers with things that have not been thrown away: Old clothes-pegs, bits of thread and twine, wooden beams and logs bathed by the sea and the wind, carved fruit stones. An invented folk from Turákia, which is an imaginary country that exists in vertical geography.
‘Deux Pierres’ is like little visual conversations …
Fascinated by the poetry of unlikely assemblages and the fatigue of the objects he works with, Michel Laubu brings us a portrait gallery and a wonderful picture theatre, as a visual recital of arrivals and departures of angels, potatoes and so many other (in)significant things.
