Christmas is a time of sharing and solidarity.
Christmas is a time of traditions and the Christmas Campaign “A basket for all” is already part of the expression of a community of solidarity and concern for those who need it most, in a time of meeting and sharing.
In line with this spirit and so that Christmas reaches everyone, the Municipality of Ourique, in partnership with the Food Bank, Local Commerce, the Parish Councils and the Vertical Grouping of Schools and Parishes of the Municipality of Ourique, organizes a collection of food from local businesses throughout the municipality, which will run from 2 to 9 December.
The initiative also includes the collection of new or used toys in good condition that will certainly bring joy to many children from the families targeted by this civic impulse, solidarity, and enrichment of the universe of children. The collection of toys will take place in municipal swimming pools, in baskets placed for this purpose.
It is civic because it counts on the participation of young people in their schools and the active involvement of the entire community of Ourique.
It is solitary, because the collection of food products such as milk, olive oil, flour, sugar, salt, canned food, canned food, grain, beans, biscuits and cereals, among other non-perishable products, will allow the distribution of goods collected by the poorest families according to the evaluation carried out by the initiative’s partner entities.
It is enriching for children because it combines the pedagogical idea of sharing and dispensing with the superfluous or excessive toys that children have in the room or at home, with the children who need them most. By the will of the giver, there are toys that will have a new home.
The Municipality of Ourique, in line with the expression of solidarity of previous years, calls for the participation in this campaign of all those who can dispense with a food item to compose the Christmas baskets that will bring more joy and spirit of the season to many homes in Ourique.
