Bienal Internacional de Marionetas de Évora
ÉVORA INTERNATIONAL PUPPET BIENNIAL
The 14th edition of BIME – Évora International Puppet Biennial will take place from 4 to 9 June 2019. During 6 days, the city will host 73 puppet shows for all audiences, 11 countries, 28 companies and 85 artists in 13 different areas of the city.
The Évora International Puppet Biennial – BIME – is an international puppet show that has been held in Évora since 1987. Organized by CENDREV (Teatro Garcia de Resende), the International Puppet Biennial opens the doors of Évora to puppets and puppeteers from all over the world and turns the streets, squares, gardens and the theatre into a great stage for this artistic expression.
The ‘Bonecos de Santo Aleixo’ are the real hosts of this Festival. In the early 80’s, the family of traditional puppeteers was welcomed in Évora where they found their home and a family of actors with whom they have traveled around the world.
The Bonecos de Santo Aleixo invite all the living puppets of the world to come to know their city, and the public of all ages to participate in this meeting.
