September in Odemira – Cultural Month with a Big Program
The ‘Cultural September’ (Setembro Cultural) initiative of the Odemira Municipality aims to promote the culture of the municipality.
During the month of September Odemira will be filled with events like concerts, cinema, street entertainment, theater, outdoor exhibitions.
Between 9 and 22 September the town of Odemira is stage for the VII International Symposium of Sculpture organized by the Sopa dos Artistas (Soup of Artists) in the Riverfront Zone. The Vinisage takes place on September 22.
The Library José Saramago celebrates its 19th Anniversary from September 3-5 with a diverse program for children and adults.
From September 6-7 Odemira celebrates the important Feast in Honour of Our Lady of Mercy (Festa em Honra da Nossa Senhora da Piedade), and the anniversary of the Odemira Municipality on September 8 with musical performances, fireworks, and religious celebrations and processions. The highlight will be the concert of the fado singer Cuca Roseta in the night of September 7.
The beautiful Festival Sete Sois Sete Luas (Seven Suns Seven Moons) returns this September to Odemira with the art of the Mediterranean and the Lusophone world. The program includes musical shows, acrobatic circus, theater and a painting exhibition – 13-15 and 27 September 2019.
On 27 September, the Cineteatro hosts a concert with Márcia, one of the leading names in Portuguese music today.
Presentations of the DVD of the Ethnographic Group ‘Gentes do Alto Mira‘, are scheduled for September 21 in Odemira (September 22 in Santa Clara-a-Velha).
On Thursdays you are recommended to visit the music shows “As Quintas no Quintal” (September 12, 19 and 26).
The European Heritage Days, with the theme “Arts, Heritage and Leisure”, show a European film marathon between September 28 and October 1, at the Camacho Costa Theatre in Odemira.
The films scheduled at the Cineteatro Camacho Costa on September 4, 11, 18 and 25 complete the program of this Cultural September.
