From May 7-13, 2018 the European Week will be celebrated in the Alentejo withan “Open Door Week” with free entrance to several heritage sites and monuments, and other acitivities.

2018 is also the European Year of Cultural Heritage.

The intention of the European Week is to wake the interest of young people in the construction of the European Union and to the relevant role they can or should play in that process.

The Europe Day on the 9th of May was first celebrated in 1986. Initially addressed in particular to schools, it is today one of the symbols of the European Union and provides an opportunity to develop activities and celebrations that bring Europe closer to its citizens.
